Thank you for writing and sharing this. It captured so much of what I've experienced during previous reunions and makes me so thankful to be part of such an active and vibrant community. You are also 100% spot on with the Class Panel being one of the most (if not THE most) impactful moments of Reunion Homecoming. The vulnerability, perspective, and life lessons are absolutely incredible.

Awww, so glad that you had a good time at reunion! I wish I had gone to all of them! So grateful for the chance to stay connected after all of these years... It's unbelievable it's been so long, but I'm grateful to still be around!

Love this, Alice! Thank you for telling this story! I found the same thing at one of the most recent high school reunions--people were kind, warm, and happy to see each other. By 40--much less 55, which is my age now--EVERYONE has endured heartbreak, loss, surprise tragedies, things not going their way. And I think it makes everyone a lot more compassionate. And the joy of just hanging out with people who knew you when you were so young... so great!

Aww so glad you enjoyed this story! That's great that you had a wonderful experience at your high school reunion. I haven't worked up the courage to go to one of mine yet lol - thank you for sharing your experience!

Yes - I think as we age the masks come off - things get real and we just want to learn how to survive life. I felt like going to reunion was like transporting me back in time to my college life - same people, same music (the DJ really got the late 90s music right). It was all the fun and none of the stress.

We all realize we have no idea what we're doing - just trying to survive and enjoy ;)

Well articulated. More and more, I am grateful to be alive. To connect with people. To hear birds singing. And enjoy other simple, nerdy pleasures.

Yes! Whenever I hang out with my 83 year old mother I realize none of what I'm striving for matters - the most important things are the little daily joys - petting a dog, going for a walk on in the woods, drinking delicious chai tea...

These things, and "planting seeds of goodness" (helping others). I also get a lot of pleasure from expressing my ideas and creating a body of work (but without attaching expectations, which remains challenging but has become less so).

Very true… helping others is important - and yes to creativity! I’ve been on a real creative bent recently- going thru the Artists Way and other artist books and I just enrolled in master class - listening to Amanda Gorman’s poetry course!
